On Friday 10th November, the Structronix team were delighted to attend the Structural Awards 2023 ceremony, The Brewery, London, where the industry’s great and the good got together to celebrate the finest structural accomplishments of the last 12 months.
Hosted by mechanical engineer and TV personality, Dr Shini Somara, this year’s award winners spanned the globe and covered an eclectic mix of structures, including: schools, stadiums, bridges and national landmarks.
Each project was judged against four critical attributes:
People
Planet
Process
Profession
The shortlisted structures and designs spanned the planet, making the event a truly global affair, with projects in the following locations:
Wellington & Auckland, New Zealand
London, Callander, Cambridge, Shropshire, Weston Super Mare & York UK
Sydney, Perth Australia
Dublin, Ireland
Belfast, Ireland
Chengdu, Shenzhen, Hunan Province and Sichuan, China
Niamey, Niger
New York, USA
Hokkaido, Japan
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Alberta, Toronto, Canada
Despite all the shortlisted projects being worthy, there could only be one Supreme Award winner and that accolade was taken by the Nancy Pauw Bridge in Canada.
We are delighted that this project won. Our founder, Owen Brooker, felt it demonstrated an incredibly impressive slender structure.
The judges felt the project delivered ‘a bridge that celebrates the natural environment of Banff through the use of natural materials. A fantastic example of technically adept ‘light touch’ engineering.’
